PRIME II worked closely with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in Yemen to increase the accessibility and quality of reproductive health services for underserved populations by establishing a new cadre of community midwives and improving a pre-existing cadre, murshidaats. A performance needs assessment completed during 2004 set the stage for the MOPH’s plans to expand the initiative in five additional governorates.
